Life Legacy


Thomas J. Sutton, 75, of Coshocton passed away at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville on Tuesday January 31, 2012. Tom was born in Coshocton on June 12, 1936 to the late Jay and Esther Sutton. He served in the US Army Reserves for six years, where he acquired rank of Captain. He graduated from Coshocton High School and attended Ohio University. Tom was a member of the Coshocton Eagles Lodge and Elks Lodge, served as board member of the Coshocton Salvation Army, member of the First Presbyterian Church of Coshocton where he served on the board of trustees and coached youth boys baseball and basketball for many years. He worked as department manager for Lazarus department store, owned and operated Clever Lumber Home Center in Mt. Vernon, President of SUTCO Sutton Construction, helped establish the first Hopewell workshop, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Sharon V. Sutton; three devoted children Jodi (Jeff) Wilson of Dublin, Jill (Rick) Schroth of Medina and John T. Sutton of Coshocton; caring grandchildren Luke, Lea and Alexa Sutton, Benjamin and Rebecca Schroth, Morgan, Daniel and Samuel Wilson; a sister Sally (Carl) Dittoe of Cedar Point, NC; brother in law Tim Buel of Columbus, nieces Cally (Rich) Dixon, Christina (Robert) Bennington, Trisha (Bill) Harshey and Wendy Buel; nephew Christopher (Patti) Dittoe; several great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Friday February 3, 2012 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Funeral services for Tom will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Coshocton, 142 N. 4th St., on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jonathan T. Carlisle and Rev. Robert W. Millspaugh officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery with Coshocton County Veterans Council performing military honors. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army of Coshocton, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
