William J Michael

October 31, 1934 — March 1, 2015

William J. “Bill” Michael, 80, of West Lafayette passed away at his home on Sunday March 1, 2015 after a battle with many health issues.

Bill was born in Coshocton on October 31, 1934 to the late William and Ruth (Madison) Michael.

He served in the United States Navy from May 5, 1952 – May 5, 1960 and retired from the Hopewell School maintenance department in 1998.  One of Bill’s favorite things to do was sitting in his golf cart watching the Ridgewood kids play sports, a big thank you to all of the Ridgewood kids that made him feel welcome, especially the Youngen Family.

He is survived by his four children Elaine (Robert) Baker of West Lafayette, Pamela (Richard) Talley of MS, Debbie (Thomas) Baker of Conesville and son Dale Michael of West Lafayette; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; brothers Tom (Joyce) Michael and Larry (Lois) Michael both of Coshocton; one sister Joann Thomas of IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Michael who he married on January 28, 1956 she passed away on March 7, 2014; two brothers James and Robert Michael; two sisters Mary Good and Betty Buckmaster and a great granddaughter Glorya Gracie Plunkett.

A graveside funeral service will be held in South Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday March 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Lloyd Tenney officiating.  Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will also be performing military honors.  Bill’s family would like to thank all of the Hospice nurses that cared for Bill from Health Services of Coshocton County.
